Win for Devil's Elbow W.Nov.2x at York Regatta

After a few weeks of practice in our double, Vikki and I decided to enter York Regatta. In our first round we were drawn against Van Mildert College of Durham University. We got a good start and won our heat!
Coming back into the landing stage we saw that our opposition for the next round, Peterborough City, we're already boating. We didn't even have time to get out of the boat and had to go straight back up to the start line. This time we were beaten off the start, but pulled back a bit around the inside line of the corner. We were still behind, when I heard Vikki shout that they'd crashed! We took the lead and won our semi final!
In the final we had to race University College, another college of Durham University. We rowed up to the start, excited and a little nervous that we could be about to lose our novice status. After a good start we had a lead, which we extended around the inside lane of the corner. By the time we reached the bridge we had a reasonable lead and held the crew off until the finish. We'd won!!
We headed back to the landing stage, very excited that we'd just lost our novices. After getting the boat out, we headed to the presentation, where we were given engraved whiskey tumblers for our win. Hopefully we'll be racing again soon!
