New Taster Session Date and LEARN to ROW Course Dates announced.

We are organising our first Taster Session followed by Learn to row course. The taster session is to introduce non rowers to the sport, but this will also be a precursor to the Learn to Row Course a few weeks later. 

Dates: Taster Session Fri 7thh September 6pm - 10pm  £10  Location Welbeck Defence College Swimming Pool.

Programme – Registration, Water Safety Video, What to wear, Rowing Machine Demo, Capsize Drill and Swim test.

Devils Elbow Rowing Club awarded £2000 from Sported for recreational boats

£50,000 Awarded to TVSC and DERC

Devil’s Elbow Rowing Club in partnership with Trent Valley Sailing Club have been awarded a grant of £50,000 by the Places People Play a Sport England initiative. The money is to be used to improve boat storage facilities at the club.

Devil’s Elbow Rowing Club are a new Rowing Club to Erewash and offer a variety of rowing experiences from recreational to competition and fun regattas open to all ages.

July - Eddystone Lighthouse Challenge

Devil's elbow ladies successfully completed the Tamar Challenge. The Eddystone lighthouse challenge was cancelled due to an imminent force 8 and low visibility. The Tamar challenge consisted of 28km out to the breakwater, experience some rough water, then head inland up the Tamar. We caught up with the opposition (Plymouth Mayflower Offshore Rowing Club) at one point against the tide and held them for quite a time. TVSC Summer Ball 2012

 TVSC invited the rowers to join in their Summer Ball. Extreme windy weather made setting up the marquees a challenge and keeping them from flying away a huge problem. The Saturday was spent rowing int he morning and then Jooles spent the afternoon helping the sailing club ladies set up the napkins and laid the tables, balloons and decorations. June - Ironbridge Regatta 2012

It was decided that our beginners needed to experience a British Regatta and that Ironbridge Regatta would provide the best experience, both racing, beautiful surroundings and of course the Saturday night PARTY!!

Everyone arrived on the Friday night, tents were put up and the rain came down. The wettest summer ever! The club could not split their eight as it had to be glued together using carbon fibre strips due to a leak in the split. So we had arranged to kindly borrow a boat from Ironbridge...

Capsize Drill and Swim test at Welbeck Defence College

The Club Undertook in May its first Capsize Drill and Swim test with 14 members completing the evening. A social drink afterwards was enjoyed by all at the Bull's Head. 
The next swim test is pencilled in to be in September 2012.
