Local club lends blades and sells Octuple to DERC

Posted by Julie Paillin on Monday, September 26, 2011,
Burton Leander Rowing Club have been superb in their efforts to help out. In the early stages of setting up a club it is difficult to get kit such as boats and blades and we rely on local clubs donating old kit to get us up and running.

Burton certain came up trumps of this occasion, they have sold us their old wooden Octuple for the juniors for £150 and also lent us 16 pairs of macon blades which will be ideal for juniors and beginners.

Thank you Burton for your help so far.

The weekend of the 10th & 11th September was the first working party in a while due to holidays and the fundraising event 'the Horn Motorcycle and Boat Rally'.

On the Saturday Neil went to Harlows Timber Merchant to source the new boathouse floor. Paul Harlow has come up trumps and we have all the wood needed for just £100. A huge thank you to Paul and his team for this generous sponsorship of the floor. Something greatly needed so the boats can be housed safely. Currently there is just water...
